심규호는 사진과 영상이라는 ‘촬영된 이미지’를 기반으로 작업한다. 프레임 안에 무엇을 들이고 잘라낼 것인지, 어느 거리에서 어떤 각도로 대상을 마주할 것인지를 질문의 출발점으로 삼는다. 사물과 신체, 공간 사이 카메라를 매개로 대상과 맺는 관계 속에서 언어 이전의 표정을 읽어내고, 배열과 편집을 통해 익숙한 장면을 낯설게 선보인다. 또한 현실을 기록하는 듯 보이는 매체가 동시에 허구와 서사를 생산한다는 이중성, 그 균열에서 새로운 가능성을 찾는다.


Kyuho Shim works with photography and moving image as his primary medium — what he terms the "captured image." His practice is grounded in questions of perception: what enters the frame and what is excluded, at what distance and angle to approach a subject. Across objects, bodies, and spaces, he reads pre-verbal expressions within relationships formed through the camera, reordering familiar scenes into something unfamiliar. He seeks new possibilities in the gap — the tension inherent in a medium that appears to document reality while simultaneously producing fiction and narrative.
